Central West Mums Awards : Hero of the Year Finalist

I'm very excited to have been named a finalist in the Central West Mums Awards for Hero of the Year. The finalists are selected by a committee but the actual award winner is decided by public vote. I would be extremely grateful if you could take a minute to vote for me.

I was nominated for Hero of the Year for my efforts to increase medical services in rural areas.
If you've been following our social media pages for a while or spent much time on our website, you'll probably know that our work to increase medical services has been multifaceted.

It all began back in 2017 when I moved to Blayney and noticed the lack of ultrasound services in the community.

A few months later, our company KLR Medical Services was formed. Our first practice, Blayney Ultrasound, opened 2 months later. Since then we've expanded our service to a second location plus pop-up days in Dubbo and Parkes.

In 2021, we expanded the services offered by KLR Medical to more than just ultrasound.

Our ultrasound machine hire service allows medical professionals the option to hire an ultrasound machine. Having the ability to hire equipment has enabled medical professionals to reduce their start-up costs and start their businesses sooner. This has ultimately led to increased ultrasound and medical services in communities. It also means that if someone has an ultrasound machine breakdown, they can hire a machine to get back up and running and limit the impact on their patients.

Through our hire service, we also provide essential ultrasound training for medical professionals. Ultrasound is a fantastic tool that can improve patient care in many different medical settings but medical professionals need to be adequately trained to properly utilise it to its full ability.

2022 has seen further expansion of services offered by KLR medical. When I first started Blayney Ultrasound, I found that there was lots of information about starting a business but basically nothing about starting a medical imaging business. In order to help other medical professionals follow their own dreams of starting a medical business in their local community, we introduced a medical business coaching service. Our business coaching is available as one-off sessions or ongoing packages.

By providing guidance through the start-up process, medical professionals have had the confidence to take the entrepreneurial leap, and communities have benefited from more patient-focused medical services.

Our newest service that has the potential to improve healthcare services is a range of online courses. The first is focused on upskilling professionals in 3D/4D Ultrasound.

If you haven't already, please take a minute to vote and check out the other finalists in some of the other categories too. There's the business of the year, mum of the year, Angel (volunteer) or the year, educator of the year, garden of the year, and hero of the year (the category I'm a finalist in).

Thank you, thank you, thank you for voting. I truly appreciate it!

Thanks,

Katrina xx
